The British boxer Anthony Joshua has been released from care, Nigerian authorities announced on Wednesday night. The athlete was involved in a car accident in the Lagos area on December 29th, a devastating event that resulted in the deaths of two of his close associates.

Recovering from Minor Injuries

The boxer had been under observation while healing from his light wounds, his promoter had said on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on social media that Joshua was declared medically stable to leave and heal privately.

“Joshua and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two departed friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,” the commissioner stated.

Remembering the Victims

Those who lost their lives were named as Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. The official further stated that the champion was filled with sorrow and deeply emotional over the tragic loss of his two dear friends.”
